Elite-level sports medicine, open to everyone.
Dr. Jos Edison and Dr. Brett Sprouse are not just sports medicine physicians · they are Auburn University's team physicians, responsible for the health and performance of elite collegiate athletes across multiple sports programs. Dr. Sprouse also serves as Team Physician for Tuskegee University. Both hold faculty appointments at VCOM-Auburn and have completed specialized Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship training. When you see them at APAM, you get that same depth of expertise focused entirely on you.
Dr. Edison serves as the Auburn Sports Medicine Chair and Program Director of the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at VCOM-Auburn · a position that puts him at the forefront of how the next generation of sports medicine physicians is trained. His clinical interests include musculoskeletal ultrasound, concussion management, osteopathic manipulative medicine, and regenerative orthobiologics including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy. If you are a weekend warrior with a nagging shoulder or a high school athlete coming off a concussion, this is the level of care you deserve.
Diagnostic precision at the point of care.
Musculoskeletal ultrasound is one of the most powerful tools in modern sports medicine, and APAM's physicians use it routinely in clinic. It allows real-time visualization of tendons, muscles, ligaments, and bursae · without radiation, without a referral, and without a week-long wait for an imaging appointment. Injuries that would take days to diagnose elsewhere can be assessed in the same visit. Combined with our on-site X-ray suite, APAM offers a diagnostic capability that most primary care practices simply cannot match.
Return-to-play decisions after concussion are among the most consequential calls a sports medicine physician makes. Our team follows evidence-based graduated return-to-sport protocols, conducts structured neurocognitive evaluations, and maintains detailed symptom tracking to protect every athlete · from youth league to collegiate competition · from the serious consequences of returning too soon.
